KUNKELA Academy provides 12 multidisciplinary stations for hands-on training and 24 seats for workshops. Practical courses for dental professionals are conducted on fully equipped phantom units that simulate a dental chair environment with a patient in a clinical setting. Each workstation is also designed to accommodate practical training for dental technicians. The ergonomic design of the workstations allows for courses that focus on the collaborative workflow between dentists and dental technicians as well as dentists and dental assistants.

A significant added value of the academy is the ability to broadcast live patient treatments from the adjacent KUNKELA Clinic directly into the training room. Participants benefit from both microscopic and macroscopic views of procedures performed in clinics dedicated to restorative dentistry and endodontics, or surgical and prosthetic treatments. Additionally, live feeds are provided from the instructor’s workstation in the practical training area.

The sophisticated audiovisual system enables participants to observe procedures in real time while interacting with the instructor during patient treatments. In addition to individual monitors at each workstation, the clinic's visuals are displayed on two large 85-inch screens, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience of the live-streamed dental procedures or the instructor's demonstrations. This advanced setup represents the highest standard in practical postgraduate dental education.

Thanks to the synergy with KUNKELA Clinic offices, which are seamlessly connected to the rooms of the Academy, the clinic's state-of-the-art digital imaging center is available for use. This center is equipped with the latest technologies, including advanced CBCT systems, intraoral scanners, facial scanners, and digital mandibular movement recording through MODJAW.

A significant portion of the training programs focuses on digitization in dentistry and the integration of modern technologies and workflows into the practices of dentists and dental technicians. Recognizing that intraoral scanners are the entry point to digital dentistry, we have placed great emphasis on selecting the most suitable scanners for both dentate and edentulous patients. We have independently tested and evaluated the majority of imported and certified scanners in clinical practice and subjected them to rigorous in-house research (see the KUNKELA Research page).

Each workstation is equipped with software for implant position planning, including integration with an intraoral scanner and subsequent design of surgical implant guides. Additionally, CAD/CAM software is available for modeling subsequent prosthetic restorations. We possess all necessary tools to ensure the proper and natural function of fabricated prosthetic replacements, which we consider a top priority.Although our educational center is equipped with both 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling units, we place significant emphasis on additive manufacturing of prosthetic restorations and auxiliary products. We compare both production methods and post-processing approaches (open – manual systems versus closed – automated systems). We firmly believe that the future of digital dentistry lies in the additive manufacturing of prosthetic devices, which has become our primary focus.
